* Challis, Idaho, man says he was stalked by two wolves
  http://www.sltrib.com/utah/ci_3670392
CHALLIS, Idaho - A Challis man out searching for shed antlers said two black wolves stalked him, tried to get behind him, and bared their teeth at him before he was able to retreat to his vehicle.
  ''They had full intentions of coming in to get me,'' Daniel Woodbridge told the Idaho State Journal about Wednesday's encounter. ''They were just waiting for the right time.'' ...

* PETA praises S.L. as a veggie-friendly city
  http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,635196734,00.html
The world was surprised in 2002 that it could buy a beer in Salt Lake City. And now comes this news: Our cup also runneth over with Tofutti soft serve and baba ghanoush.
  According to the animal activist group PETA, Salt Lake City ranks as the third most vegetarian-friendly small city in America, behind such tofu enclaves as Boulder, Colo., and Santa Cruz, Calif. Salt Lake City even outranked Norfolk, Va., PETA's hometown, as well as college towns such as Madison, Wis., and Athens, Ga. In the large city category, the top three were hardly a surprise: Portland, Ore., Seattle and San Francisco. ...

Wednesday
---------
* Buy local meat

Your editorial regarding meat inspection in the March 28 Tribune was right on.
  Of course we need more oversight on raising livestock for food but, just as the Bush administration has always done, it promises to fund inspection programs and then cuts funding so much that, instead of more inspectors, we get fewer.
  This basically lets livestock producers police themselves, and if you think that agribusiness isn't feeding cow parts, chicken manure and animal renderings to cattle because it's against the law then I have some swampland in Florida to sell you. ...
